Now that it’s pumpkin spice season we wanted to share an easy fall friendly treat you can bake for your pup!
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (*plus extra to flour surface)
- 1 Tsp. Cinnamon
- ¼ Tsp. Baking Powder
- ¼ Tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 Egg
- ½ Cup Pumpkin Puree
- 2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
- 4-5 Tbsp. Water
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl combine pumpkin puree (make sure to not get pumpkin pie filling), coconut oil and about 4 tbsp. of water. Mix together.
Next add in your dry ingredients: whole wheat flour, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda.
Slowly start to incorporate together with an electric mixer then add in one egg. Add in more water if the mixture isn’t coming together. (I added another tablespoon)
Finish mixing together by hand if needed and combine dough into a ball.
Roll out your dough onto a floured surface then cut out your treats with cookie cutters. This dough is really easy to work with and like the peanut butter treats we’ve made, these can be cut to small sizes to use for training or to give to smaller dogs!
Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes or until the treat has hardened and is golden brown at the bottom.
Of all the dog friendly ingredients I’ve baked with – I found that pumpkin is always a fan favorite among all of my dog friends when it comes to putting together DIY dog cookies. Hope you enjoy baking a little fall treat for your pup!
