Hey, Suzanne. Sorry about your pooch — hip dysplasia is certainly a drag for our dogs.
But you’re setting your four-footer up well by going with the Big Barker — it’s a no-brainer for big dogs who need a bit of extra support.
Best of luck with your orthopedic appointment!

I’ve just ordered a Big Barker bed for her, so I’m happy to see that that is on the top of your list… can’t wait for it to arrive.
I noticed you’re in the Atlanta area. We have an appt. with an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Atlanta area – “Veterinary Referral Surgical Practice PC.”
It’s a challenge keeping a 2 yr old GSD quiet, and resting!
Thank you for all the good info above!

Poor pupper! We’d recommending just heading straight to the vet, who can help you triage her various problems and start treatment regimens for each.
There are treatments for hip dysplasia (as well as mange and malnutrition), so just do what you can to help return your new pooch to good health.
Be sure to take lots of “before” and “after” photos!

She is only a puppy but they told us today she has severe hip dysplasia. Any advice you can give us would be amazing. She has been been tied very closely to a tree for almost a month. She is at least twenty pounds under weight, covered in mange, very weak. We are visiting her 2-3 times a day until we can bring her home next week. Oh, she is 4 months old.
