Thanks for sharing!
We’ve never heard of these kinds of shipping restrictions to Alaska, but we’ll look into it!

The black dog is 120 pounds, built like a lab but with much longer legs, hair a bit longer. With our extended darkness (Sunrise 1030, sunset 3:30, on darkest day), a black dog needs something. This is a semi-rural area, roads are narrow, no sidewalks. The bright red flash even reflects off things like pine branches. When he’s exploring for Snowshoe Hares or Spruce Grouse, you want to have some idea where he is & where he’s going to come out on the road. On-coming cars and ATVs really do spot that light. He’s too friendly; is sure a car will stop so he can greet them.
He had a flexible enough neck he can (and will) chew on it, so have to remember to take it ff him.
We really want the collar-type, like the Blazen’ Safety that uses USB charging, but no one wants to ship to Alaska, maybe because of the lithium batteries? No one on Amazon would ship, and it seems like everyone is out of his size (21″ neck), anyway. The dangling clip-on is way better than nothing – way better, but we’d like to do better than that. We have very limited brick-and-mortar choices. Going to try to persuade the Vet to order one – or a supply.

Some of them (from certain manufacturer) do not work once the battery has to be replaced. A big downside to these is that you can’t always see the light, depending on how the dog positions herself. I just recently purchased #2, the Bseen LED collar light. Already lost one of those. My two dogs rough-house with each other when we’re out walking, and every time, one or both of the collars would get ripped off by the other dog. I loved how the Bseen collar could easily be seen from anywhere, but they don’t do much good if they don’t stay on the dogs’ necks! Still looking for a good way to light-up my dogs on our walks. My dogs already wear a Sportdog control collar when we walk, so I don’t want to add another bulky collar to what they’re already wearing.
