Hey Karen! I totally get it, it’s super stressful and scary to put our babies through such an ordeal! Remy weighs about 60 lbs, so I can carry him when I need to, and I did for getting him in and out of the car. Remy didn’t have an issue going out the front of our house as it was just 3-4 steps, and he did fine with that. I used a cloth wrap the surgeon gave us to put under his rear area to help with his back legs getting down steps.

I would say if you’re just dealing with a few steps, you’ll probably be OK. Although a ramp might not be a bad idea — definitely ask your doctor.

I didn’t have Remy in a crate. I work from home so I was just able to sit next to him and keep tabs on him. Thankfully he wasn’t bad about licking the wounds, especially when I wrapped a light blanket around his backside as he laid in his bed.

Hope that helps – good luck!

First surgery on full tear, second on partial tear. Thought being female and the way they pee might have something to do with not doing both together? How much does Remy weigh? Im worried abt stairs, ramp incline too steep, any advice? My dog takes forever to pee/poop. She has to walk a while to do it. This is what makes me crazy nervous. Was Remy in a crate? Ugh. Thank you!
