Hey Marlene – I’d say check out our list of best grain-inclusive dog foods. Specifically, I’d suggest Nature’s Logic (which has a Pork option and a Venison option, among others), Honest Kitchen (which has a limited ingredient duck or beef option). Good luck!

This was approximately several months after his allergy tests for the 2 years we had fought skin yeast (was pretty bad and doctored with several vets). We had been feeding Taste of Wild Grain Free for several years. Now we have to deal with finding food he can eat without flaring up the skin yeast and help his heart. Foods recommended was Royal Canine or Taste of Prey Turkey or Trout. I am a dog rescue and with 5 of my own and him being 93lbs, Royal Canine was not an option. Other meat he can have is vension, pork and Kangaroo (LOL). Most foods contain at least some part Chicken, peas, potatoes, green beans, rice, Salmon, beets or berries. These are not an option. He is currently on 4 medications with the cost of $185.00 per month and I cook vension regularly to mix with his diet. I have one cocker spaniel that I currently keep on the same diet. He has skin issues (not yeast) and I worry about DCM with him. If you ever have any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

She had one brief episode of what looked like syncope/fainting. She was running and rolling over and laid still for a few seconds not responding to calls. Took her to the vet on 12/28 went through diagnostics including echo,we were devastated to find out she has DCM.Not n failure, but left ventricular EF is 10%.Taurine levels are normal. She has been feeding on V-dog since she was a puppy. We changed the diet to Royal Canin, getting Taurine and L carnitine. Still active, walks 2 miles, runs short spurts. She may be feeling tired more than before, may be we are paying more attention! She has been on Pimobendan and enlapril. Hope things are reversible.

Hey, Alan. Glad you liked the foods we mentioned.
As mentioned, I feed my pupper Blue Buffalo Large Breed Chicken and Rice, and I think it’s perfect. But, you can see some other good options for Rotties here too.
Best of luck! Let us know what you pick.

I’m also a Rottie owner, we’re kind of a big deal to each other. lol He is 7 months old and as I look to transition to an adult, large breed food; I wanted to ask your recommendations as I go from grain-free, to a non-grain free food.
