I tried a no pull harnesses and that looked like she was constantly tripping over herself it was so pathetic! So I looked into equipment for her to safely pull and found out about Canicross, then I got us a non stop dogwear set up. She’s a pyrenees beagle chow mix (but just looks like a golden retriever). She pulls and the assist is so nice! It’s our winter hobby since my vet said her double coat shouldn’t run in temps over 50. Sadly I don’t think I’ll enter her in any races she has a chow aggressive personality.

Hey, Johnny.
Check our our review of some of the best escape-proof harnesses.
Hopefully, one of those will work for your pooch.

My dog turns around, pulls backwards, and stretches out its front legs, and the the harness comes off over his head. It seems these Cani-Cross harnesses would be easy to back out of. My crude fix is an additional short chain from my leash to a choke collar, so if bowser works out of the harness, he has the choke collar in place. Is there a better process?

I had never heard of Canicross until I started looking for a different harness because we started doing canicross on urban walks (she lopes, I run trying to keep up with her and wow, I’m flying a little with each stride as she pulls me along!), and wilderness hikes as I climb hills with half the effort thanks to her assistance. LOVE IT!!! Now to buy a harness for her, a belt for me and a bungee lead.
