Hey, Jonathan.
There aren’t many harnesses on the market (that we know of) that don’t have any squeeze buckles.
But, there are a handful like this, which rely on Velcro straps. We haven’t looked at that particular model closely, but it may be a good choice for your mom (if her dog is pretty small).
We’ll keep an eye out for similar harnesses and add them to this article as time allows.
Thanks for visiting the site!

My mom is looking for a harness for her small dog without a squeeze buckle, which her arthritis doesn’t allow her to operate. I didn’t see anything in your article. Any ideas? Jon

Well, after hours of searching, I can’t find anything suitable for indoor use. For outdoors, where any residual dripping is not an issue, there are several, but not for use, say, in a medical waiting room or a store.

There’s a market out there waiting to be tapped, especially with the number of service/assistance dogs being used by people with all kinds of issues using their hands (strokes, TBI, PD, arthritis, etc.) Now all we need is someone to address the issue!

Hey, Bob. Glad you found the article helpful.

It’s kind of hard for us to recommend a specific bottle that’ll work well for you. Many do have buttons that must be pushed or sides that you’ll need to squeeze. That said, we’d recommend reviewing some of the options we cover in our travel water bottle buyer’s guide.

Another idea — which, honestly, may be a little “out there” — is to check out some of the smaller dog water fountains. You’d obviously need access to a power and water source to use them, but we thought they were worth mentioning anyway.

Best of luck! Let us know if you find one that works well, and we’ll take a closer look in the future.
